Meghan is passionate about joining the Tetra String Quartet and is excited to further their mission by serving the Phoenix Metropolitan Area through performance and music education.

  • Emilio Vazquez

    PRESIDENT

“My first experience with Tetra String Quartet was as a freshman at ASU back in 2012, where I had the opportunity to perform in an educational outreach concert they had organized for local Tempe students. What was immediately inspiring about working with them was the ease with which they were able to both engage and inspire a young audience. After watching them over the years grow and develop their mission to break down barriers of access to classical chamber music, I was beyond excited to have the opportunity to join their board and help build their programs. Tetra has played an inspirational role in my journey as a violinist and educator and I hope to be able to give back so they can continue inspiring future generations.”

  • Joe Petrucci

    TREASURER

“I joined Tetra String Quartet’s board because I feel strongly that it’s vision of teaching and providing classical music to young people is important in todays society. Music is an empowering force that transcends the differences in people and pulls them together. This is needed more today than ever. Tetra is very focused on this, and I want to be part of helping them to grow and expand this effort. The groups work with underserved segments of our community is especially meaningful to me for personal reasons. This work has inspired me to get on board and use my talents to help them grow. “

  • Veena Mahesh

    BOARD MEMBER

I was lucky to grow up with traditional musical training in vocal classical South Indian music and a family that was musically inclined. Even my name was chosen to represent my mother’s artistic pursuit of the Veena, a stringed instrument. I am a strong believer that music can enable cross-cultural connection, transformation and healing. I was exposed to Tetra’s work through my daughter who has participated in the year-round after school program. I connected strongly with Tetra’s mission involving students and the community first-hand, and hope to bring my strengths in marketing, communications and education to help Tetra expand their impact. here

  • Janice Mak, PhD

Janice brings extensive leadership in education and advocacy to the Tetra board. Her commitment to equity, thoughtful systems change, and community-centered policy complements Tetra's mission of fostering connection, learning, and creative expression through chamber music.

  • Charlie Bullen

    BOARD MEMBER

“I have known the Tetra Quartet for many years as musicians, educators and humanitarians. I have been lucky to have been able to help with their Christmas Azure Family Concert which benefits families with children on the autism spectrum.

When offered the opportunity to join the Tetra board, I welcomed the chance to use my non profit experience to forward the mission of Tetra. In addition to the Azure Family Concerts, I'm am interested in their educational efforts, particularly the Summer Chamber Music Workshops. Not only do young musicians get excellent musical education but also have the opportunity to work on skills such as public speaking and cooperation and collaboration techniques that will provide lifelong benefits far beyond the realm of music.

My personal goal is to insure that no potential student will be denied the opportunity to avail themselves of the benefits above due to financial considerations. “

  • Alice Daer, PhD

    BOARD MEMBER

Dr. Daer joins the Tetra Board 3 years after her daughter Nina started participating as a violist in the year-round TCMI program. A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Dr. Daer came to the Valley to join the faculty at ASU in 2008 as a digital literacies scholar in the English department. After leaving ASU in 2015, Dr. Daer worked in digital marketing and user experience research, forming her company Quick Brown Fox Consulting in 2018. Since then, she has helped many technology companies teach their teams to write up their research more effectively, assisting them in seeing the narratives in their data sets and communicating those stories to stakeholders.

As a TCMI parent, Dr. Daer especially loves seeing how chamber music allows students to learn all the same things they would learn through sports: teamwork, celebrating collaborative achievements, communicating and listening to feedback, offering critique with diplomacy, finding ways to read subtle, nonverbal communication, and conditioning the body to endure lengthy practices. Watching students learn these lessons through music is a privilege few of us get to have, and Dr. Daer cherishes her ability to help Tetra share that experience with as many willing participants as possible.

  • Josie Greenwald

    BOARD MEMBER

“I joined Tetra’s board because I wholeheartedly believe in their mission. I have been involved with Tetra since 2012 when I was a student at their first summer chamber music workshop and have ever since watched the group and nonprofit grow immensely. In 2018 I had the opportunity to be a Teaching Assistant for a TCMI Summer Workshop and also interned with Tetra as a Fundraising Assistant.

I graduated college with an undergraduate degree in cello performance in 2021 from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and have since been active as a performer, teacher, and arts administrator. Currently, I work at The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro as the Development Manager.”
