What is a residency?

Tetra is in residence at numerous Arizona organizations. Through these educational and performance-based residencies, they are able to nurture long-term relationships with students and concertgoers. These partnerships enable Tetra to present engaging, artistic, and interactive concerts and workshops. Multiple visits throughout the year allow Tetra  to become an integral part of each community.

Marcos De Niza High School

Tetra partnered with Marcos de Niza orchestra director Scott Glasser to develop a pilot chamber music program in 2013. Through a series of visits and chamber music coachings, Tetra prepared the students for a culmination performance. They emphasized the importance of Communication, Awareness, Musicianship, and Personal responsibility (CAMP).

Through the implementation of an Ensemble-in-Residence at Marcos de Niza High School, our orchestra students received training and guidance in the elements of chamber music and ensemble playing. I witnessed a plethora of growth amongst my students in musicianship, confidence, leadership, and communication with others. Tetra drives to educate and develop the next generation of musicians in a positive, innovative way. I look forward to collaborating with them for many years to come!

Phoenix Veterans Hospital

Tetra is honored to perform for veterans at the Phoenix Veterans Hospital multiple times a year! They started their collaboration with the Community Living Center in 2015.

The Tetra String Quartet is a fabulous group of motivated individuals that is able to communicate through their music and instruments- enthusiasm, love and honor to our veterans in the Community Living Center at the Phoenix VA. We are grateful and the veterans anxiously await their performances!

Arizona State University

The members of Tetra have been Faculty Associates at Arizona State University since 2011. They coordinate educational presentations in conjunction with the ASU School of Music’s Visiting Quartet Residency Program. Past presentations have included collaborations with the Brentano, Juilliard, St. Lawrence String Quartets, and Shanghai String Quartets.

My experience with the class was incredible; having rehearsal or a coaching always brightened my day, I learned quite a lot about music and about ensemble from the members of Tetra, and I met people that I now consider to be very good friends of mine.

Arizona Musicfest

Tetra works with Arizona Musicfest to provide educational assemblies to Arizona elementary students. They present fun and engaging concerts that teach communication and listening skills through music.

Tetra Quartet shines in every way. Tetra has played for our students in elementary grades through middle school and reactions have all been the same. THEY LOVE TETRA. Learning about the string instruments and their potential for producing sounds has never been more fun and listening to classical music never more joyous. Students are spellbound by the energy, enthusiasm, and uniqueness of the Tetra String Quartet.
